TYPES OF FUNERAL SERVICES

WHO WILL LEAD THE SERVICE?

Today, most funeral services are conducted by a Minister of Religion or a Civil Celebrant.

A Minister of Religion or Priest can conduct a funeral service in their own Church or at any other chapel or venue. The Minister or Priest would meet with the family to discuss the order of service which would usually include eulogies and tributes, bible readings, prayers and often hymns and photo tributes. We have an excellent relationship with all of our local Clergy, who we can contact on your behalf.

A Civil Celebrant can conduct a non-religious service with a focus on the person's life.

The Celebrant would meet with the family to discuss the order of service which would usually include eulogies and tributes, poems and often photo tributes. A Celebrant can also use bible readings and prayers, the Lord's Prayer is still commonly used by many Celebrants, with the family's approval. Nielsen Funerals are able to recommend excellent female or male Celebrants.

The family can be as involved in the service as they wish.

Family members will often deliver eulogies and tributes, as well as poems or scripture readings. When family members feel that they are unable to speak at the service the Minister or Celebrant are able to read everything on their behalf.

The Service can also be led by the family and/or friends.
